About us
We are a non-profit initiative started by like-minded individuals coming from diverse professional backgrounds, tied together through our shared interests and heritage on the Himalayan region.
We aim to open and initiate conversations about some of the key issues ranging across the social, political, historical, economic, cultural, and environmental spheres that concern this part of the world in order to inform positive collective action.
We recognise that the Himalayan region and its issues transcend geopolitical borders. Therefore, we are a transnational collective of members bringing in perspectives from Nepal, Sikkim, Darjeeling Himalaya, as well as Northeast India (Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Tripura). Although we mainly focus on the Eastern Himalaya, we also welcome perspectives from Central and Western Himalayas (Ladakh, Tibet, etc.). Our works also cut across disciplinary boundaries, and we incorporate art, literature, research, culture within our projects and activities.
Our members are mainly based in the UK and Europe, and we aim to utilise our expertise to centre the Himalayan region of Asia within a global context.
